CHARLESTON, SC. (10/1/08)–Centura College’s Charleston campus received the 2007-2008 School of Distinction award from their national accrediting agency. ACCSCT (Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology) has recognized the Charleston campus as an institution committed to delivering quality educational programs and exceeding the rigors and expectations of their standards.
The school will be receiving this award at the 2008 ACCSCT Professional Development Conference in Bethesda, Maryland, on October 6th. “Being committed to the education of the student is important but the biggest thing that sets us apart is our holistic approach we take with students, which includes providing in other ways like bus passes, referrals for assistance with bills. We even have a food bank in-house that we use to help provide meals for the families,” states David Riggs, School Director, “The students are more than a number and they face real challenges in their lives that we help them overcome. And in turn, this helps us provide them with career skills to enhance their future.”
The Chesapeake and Alexandria, Virginia Centura Colleges are also being recognized.
